Bite-Size Burgers

Welcome to day 2 of Grill Week! What did you guys think of yesterday’s kabobs? Today’s recipe can double as an appetizer or a full entrée, which is great, because who doesn’t love a good two-for-one deal? These Bite-Size Burgers are essentially an even tinier version of a slider, but instead of a bun, you serve it on top of a waffle fry. I’ll pause for a minute so you can wipe the drool off your keyboard.

All cleaned up now? Good.

My favorite part about these little burgers is all of the topping possibilities: a leaf of lettuce, a cherry tomato, relish, a dill pickle, mustard, ketchup, hot sauce, a small piece of bacon, barbecue sauce, you get my drift. With them being so small, why not try one of each? We've even made these with little pieces of chopped up jalapenos embedded in the meat. Whoa, so good. So, enough talk (writing?), let’s get to making these bad boys.

Adapted from this recipe

Ingredients:
  • ½ pound lean hamburger meat
  • 3 slices of white American cheese
  • 1/3 bag of waffle fries
  • Condiments, as desired

Instructions:
  • Preheat grill to high heat.
  • While the grill is warming up, season the hamburger meat to your liking, and form into bite size pieces, about the size of a half-dollar.
  • Place the burgers onto the grill and let cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until the middle of the burgers are just slightly pink.
  • Top the burgers with a slice of cheese, sliced into quarters, and cook for another minute.
  • While the burgers are cooking, place the waffle fries on the vegetable tray, and cook for about 10 minutes, or until they start to turn crispy.
  • Place a mini-burger on top of a waffle fry and top with ketchup, mustard, relish, lettuce, green onions, tomatoes, or any combination of your favorite condiments.
